Chapter 1
In the cozy little town of New Haven, where music floated through the air, there lived a girl named Melody. Music was everywhere in her life. She sang when she woke up. She sang while tying her shoes. She even sang softly when she felt nervous.
Singing made Melody feel brave.
One morning at school, her teacher smiled and clapped her hands.
“The school play is coming soon,” she said. “We will have songs, acting, and a big stage.”
Melody’s heart beat fast. She had always dreamed of singing on stage. Not with a group. Not in the back. But all by herself.
After school, Melody picked a song she loved. It sounded beautiful when she listened to it. The song went high, then low, then high again. It felt like flying.
But when Melody tried to sing it, something went wrong.
Her voice cracked.
She missed notes.
Some parts felt too hard.
Melody sat on her bed and hugged her pillow.
“What if I can’t do this?” she whispered.
She felt sad. Then she felt quiet.
After a moment, Melody took a deep breath. She remembered something her mom once said:
“You don’t get better all at once. You get better a little bit each day.”
Melody seaches deep within herself to get on stage and show everyone what she is made of in the school play
